Future Plans

St. Mary’s Orthodox Church of India, Bronx, New York is a member of the Malankara Orthodox Church of India. We have our traditions and roots based on the teachings of the Holy Bible and Church Fathers. Our Lord sent the disciples to preach the word, and St. Thomas established the church in India in AD 52.

Our mission becomes a vital and contributing part of the overall growth and ministry of our church. As we celebrate our parish anniversary, in conjunction with the Feast of Mar Gregorios of Parumala, and the dual responsibilities of preserving the past and planning for the future are important to our parish.

To say it simply, our vision continues to be to seek God’s will for the future direction and ministry of our church. We pray for the chance to pursue a mission and vision for future ministry, and to coordinate this effort through prayer, participation and support with the guidance of God.

We work closely with the spiritual organizations, the support of the entire church body, through fasting and prayer and the intercessions of our Holy Mother, Mar Gregorios and the saints of the church, we hope to assess the needs of the people, programs, and ministry of the church. Through this, we seek to acknowledge our needs and current challenges in these areas, to explore current ministry growth, and to determine whether there are other ministries that we should consider based upon our needs and growth of the church body. We would also look to concentrate on our strengths and find ways to build up the church. In addition, we want to explore new ministries and programs, especially charity works touched by these strengths and the needs of the less fortunate, to seek to project what the needs and growth of new ministries and programs might be, and to determine how to best accommodate our overall future growth.
